Ophthalmology Accreditation
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare is a corporate Commonwealth entity, established in 2006 to lead and coordinate national improvements in the safety and quality of health care. To better ensure the ongoing provision of high-quality health care, Hobart Eye Surgeons has elected to be accredited against a set of standards developed by the Commission, as well as obtain related State and Federal licenses.
Hobart Eye Surgeons has been successful in passing three very rigorous and comprehensive State and Federal accreditation and licensing programs.
We are now one of only a small number of ophthalmic practices nationally to be accredited by Quality Innovation Performance, a division of AGPAL who are the foremost medical accreditation auditors in Australia.
We also have attained accreditation and licensing through the Tasmanian Dept of Health and Human Services as a Low Impact Day Procedure Centre and through the Federal Dept of Health and Aged Care as a private hospital. We are the only ophthalmic practice in Tasmania to achieve this status.
What this means for you
Our practice is now the only Ophthalmic practice in Tasmania to achieve these very exacting standards. You can have confidence when asking to be referred to Hobart Eye Surgeons that you will receive the highest level of patient care – care that is regularly monitored and audited by a national body.
